About
Hello there,
my name is Corinne, I’m an artist and surface pattern designer based in Burgundy, France.
Have I always loved art? Sure. Did I take the straightest path there is to becoming an artist? You bet. Well, sort of…
I moved from my native Germany to Paris and started an intensive foundation degree in literature. So intense in fact, that a few months of it were amply sufficient to my liking. What was a future artist to do in order to gather experience and inspiration (and not starve right away)? The obvious: I sold perfumes, studied a little Russian, waved as a live cartoon figure from the top of motorway billboards and became a trainee at a publishing company. Ever the geek, I honed my technical skills with state-of-the-art equipment as a receptionist for a large IT company, thus becoming one of the first humans on the planet ever to send a fax (yes, kids, that was before emails). Heck, I even worked as a model for a famous department store, which didn’t lead to an international career but at least to some international travel.
Inevitably, I ended up in drama school. Around the same time, I also took up photography, thus becoming the go-to “portraitist” of my fellow students and doing test shoots for model agencies. Needless to say, that although I successfully completed said drama course after three years, I then became a journalist (writing and photographing for magazines such as Marie Claire, Marie France, Cosmopolitan and W Fashion Magazine) and later an accessories designer (even designing parts of a capsule collection for Jean Patou once).
After those somewhat uneventful thirteen years in Paris, I decided it was time for a change and moved to Munich, Germany, where I worked as a pr consultant for chic French cosmetic firms such as Nuxe, T. LeClerc and many others. I also continued working as a photographer, adding gardens to my portfolio and publishing several books on the topic.
Finally, what was bound to happen, happened: I picked up a paintbrush and never stopped! I have been a painter for over twenty years and my works can be found in private collections worldwide. I also started hosting painting workshops.
Moving back to France five years ago and renovating a house in Burgundy reignited my passion for home décor, patterns and fabrics, so I decided to learn surface pattern design. I took online classes with Lilla Rogers, Margo Tantau, Jessica Swift, Victoria Johnson, Cat Coquillette and Bonnie Christine. Seeing my designs on fabric and paper goods (and hopefully on cosmetic packaging and home décor in the near future, too) fills me with joy.
Many of my artworks are available for licensing. Feel free to contact me for commissioned work.
Loves & likes
I am obsessed with color and color combinations in every shape or form and can usually tell you what any objects’ particular shade is called – be it your lawnmower’s cobalt green or your lipstick’s alizarin red. So, unsurprisingly, I love flowers, cosmetics and art supplies. I also love home décor and decorative things, such as paper goods, perfume and vintage packaging.
Curious by nature, I love to travel and to explore – be it the outdoors, botanical gardens, bookshops, museums or flea markets.
A hopeless romantic, I have a penchant for the renaissance and especially the early 16th century.
Another special interest of mine is astrology.
Last, but not least, I am lucky to love cooking almost as much as eating.
